1. Certificate will be generated by a tool
  2. Jenkins instance installed.
  3. Need to automate certificate renewal process for kubernetes cluster.
  • Could you please add more information about your query? Am unable to fully understand the requirement. But going with the assumption that you need to install a certificate on a k8s cluster, you can check if this helps: kubernetes.io/docs/tasks/tls/managing-tls-in-a-cluster. Also, these steps can be done inside your Jenkins pipeline if needed. – Karthik Venkatesan Jul 7 '20 at 0:48
  • It is regarding automate harbor certitifcate installtion process on kubernetes cluster. In order to do that i have done following steps 1. jenkins instance running on kubernetes 2. GItHub plugin set for jenkins 3. I need to automate a certiticate automation process for kubernetes cluster, so i created a script which will automate the steps 4. for this i need to run a job in jenkins for this automation 5. shall i create a docker image for this automated script and deploy using jenkins to my kubernetes cluster. If you can suggest some alternatives please ? – Sakshi Rathore Jul 8 '20 at 7:51

If the requirement is only to run a jon inside Jenkins, you should be able to manage by creating a Jenkins job in the instance already running. Also, you do not necessarily need to put your script into a docker image, but can have it done that way. But since assumedly the certificate renewal might be probably needed once a month, you can think of bringing down the certificate service once the job runs. That way, you shall be utilizing the resources optimally. – Karthik Venkatesan Jul 11 '20 at 6:24
