My Objective:

  • To install OMS agent in Windows container.

Why:

  • To View/Monitor the container's logs Azure Log Analytics.

What I'm doing now:

  • I followed this Official link. Basically, I got Workspace ID, Workspace Key and the setup.exe. Now, I'm trying to install the Azure Log Analytics in the container itself using Dockerfile.

This is my Dockerfile:

FROM microsoft/aspnet:4.7.1-windowsservercore-1709

RUN Write-Host 'Installing OMS Agent' ; \
CMD setup.exe /qn NOAPM=1 ADD_OPINSIGHTS_WORKSPACE=1 OPINSIGHTS_WORKSPACE_AZURE_CLOUD_TYPE=0 OPINSIGHTS_WORKSPACE_ID="my_workspace_id==" OPINSIGHTS_WORKSPACE_KEY="my_workspace_key=" AcceptEndUserLicenseAgreement=1

Currently, this image gets built without displaying any errors but when run, it does not connect to the Azure Log Analytics. I've also explored that container and I couldn't find any Microsoft Monitoring Agent related files/folder in Program Files of the container and also, didn't saw any extra running process when I did docker container top.

What am I missing can someone please point out?

NOTE: It has to be a Windows container as I'm trying to run a legacy Dot Net Application.
