Are there actually some emerging but not hyped cloud technologies to watch for?

I mean, cloud solutions we use have been there since some years, but as they came out, they had been around for some years, unnoticed by many of us. Look, even Kubernetes was released 4 years ago.

So are now the state of the art virtual infrastructure solutions just mature technology which will of course become more sophisticated and improved, or are there some "new kids on the block" to try out?

My search criteria: an open source project with more than 1-2 contributors, also used in production and offering some new and reasonable concepts?

  • Is someone aiming at being the first to write a book on some upcoming technology? ;) More seriously, did you take a look at the "predictions" published by Gartner (or any similar advisory firm)? – Sylvain Leroux Feb 13 '19 at 18:33

@SylvainLeroux Gartner is very high level and not specifically cloud, sure enough there could be digital twins of virtual networks powered by AI but I am looking for third impementation. You know, the community knew about Docker long before it became noticed by broader circles. Nope not writing the book. – Peter Muryshkin Feb 14 '19 at 9:56
