Is there any way how to remotely build maven projects. I want to use remote maven container for this, but the problem is with caching of the downloaded dependencies (as it is not always easy to precalculate needed dependencies to utilize docker build caching).

Are there any projects targeting this usage? The main motivation for me, is to try to utilize another hardware to do the heavy lifting.

  • Do you mean something like the usage of Jenkins, Bamboo, Gitlab CI,... with there dedicated Build Agents? – Serverfrog Mar 18 at 17:24
  • The problem is how to get the build classes back. Best will be to mimic maven command with some kind of remote build executable, so your IDE will not notice. – Zveratko Mar 19 at 5:48
  • I found this which is what I want, but for cLion and make. And this thread, where they are discussing the same use case – Zveratko Mar 19 at 7:03
  • This looks really interesting github.com/buildfoundation/mainframer – Zveratko Mar 19 at 7:40
  • Build Server like Jenkins, etc just do that. They build on that Remote Agent and pack all the files that are build (classes, jar, zips,...) on their frontend for download. Beside that, most can do many things after that (like copy the file somewhere). Or are you trying to build something on a Remote Server and the Artifacts should updated something on the Developer Maschine which can't be build their? – Serverfrog Mar 19 at 9:11
