I have an odd behavior that is occurring. When I am building a Dockerfile on my Windows Host that has a COPY command to copy a symlink into the image, the symlink is copied with the slashes replaced with backslashes

I have found this issue https://github.com/moby/moby/issues/34147 which details the problem from almost two years ago. At the time of writing, the issue is still open. I have not found a solution or a work-around to this issue.

Example

Symlink: src/libs/inlude/math -> '../libs/math/include/'

After COPY: src/libs/inlude/math -> '..\libs\math\include\'

Clearly, this will not work, and is a source of much frustration. The Dockerfile builds correctly on a linux host. I need to find a way to solve this without needing to change the Dockerfile such that building it would not work on the linux host, and preferably not at all. Hopefully there is some flag or configuration I can change, or perhaps add an instruction not to modify the symlinks?
