I am trying to help someone who is trying to build a React Native application on Azure DevOps that continues to give them this error:

FAILURE: Build failed with an exception.

* Where:
Script 'D:\a\1\s\node_modules\@react-native-community\cli-platform-android\native_modules.gradle' line: 191

* What went wrong:
A problem occurred evaluating settings 'NFIBEngage'.

* Try:
Run with --stacktrace option to get the stack trace. Run with --info or --debug option to get more log output. Run with --scan to get full insights.

##[error]Error: The process 'D:\a\1\s\android\gradlew.bat' failed with exit code 1
##[section]Finishing: gradlew build

I thought perhaps it was an issue that Azure is looking in the wrong directory, but I am not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Can you elaborate on how the build is continuing? I don't see much beyond the error mentioned and the final build failure of the batch file that (presumably) called the React build. – Peter Jun 20 at 14:02
  • @Peter, thank you for reaching out to me. The project was completed and I do not recall what was done to resolve the above. – Daniel Jun 20 at 23:01
